What kind of fire wire does a Canon ZR950 need?
I have a Canon ZR950 and i don’t know what kind of fire wire I need! Please tell me the right one and where to get it the cheapest! Ten points for the best and right answer!
p.s. I have a USB but that is for pictures only
If you’re just talking about the cable, then you need a 6-pin to 4-pin Firewire cable (aka IEEE 1394 cable). Basically the cable has one big plug on one end and a smaller plug on the other end. The smaller plug goes into the camcorder. Just beware, because you can get a variety of Firewire cables – eg, 4-pin to 4-pin, which has two small ends.
You’ll just have to shop around for a cable. Dick Smith, Harvey Norman, Retravision, etc. Will probably cost $15-$20.
If you don’t have a Firewire card or port in your computer, then you’ll need to buy the card too. You can usually get the card bundled with the cable, eg Belkin brand. If you’re looking at your PC and don’t know what the Firewire port looks like, it looks similar to a USB port, except tapered on one end.
